1st Day USA

Having just arrived in New York the Honeymoon has (literally) already reached dizzying heights. If a room on the 24th floor wasn’t high enough we ventured up to the roof terrace and took a few snaps. Gym session with a view anyone? After a short stroll up 6th Street, and some refuelling (how cool is

Downtown

Prepare yourself for an action packed report of our first full day in NYC. We left at 9am and (foolishly?) decided to walk downtown from mid-town Chelsea to catch the Staten Island ferry. We stopped to gaze up at the many and varied tall buildings along the way, sat in a pretty park and saw

Uptown

After a hearty Hyatt breakfast our NYC itinerary today featured a trip up to the 86th floor of the Empire State Building (wow, those views, those heights and lovely marble walls); coffee kerb-side amidst Times Square action (noise, people, colours, lights, sirens – Piccadilly might seem dull now); retail therapy at Macy’s (pic of Mac

Yellowstone via Chicago

Okay, the first hitch in the Honeymoon travel plan, our flight from Buffalo was delayed due to stormy weather in Chicago so we missed our connecting flight from Chicago to Jackson Hole, the airport that would be the start of our Yellowstone adventure. Our suitcase ‘Bob’ did make the connection and arrived 12 hours before

Yellowstone Planet

We’re calling this post Yellowstone Planet because of the extraordinary other-worldly landscapes we saw during the three amazing days spent at the park. You can imagine Mike, with his rucksack full of hi-spec camera equipment, captured many impressive shots so, for blog purposes, we’ve chosen a varied selection. This blog has scenic pics taken at

Yellowstone Wildlife

The bison (above) walked past us along the road as we were leaving one evening, heading East into the park (and didn’t seem too bothered about the tailbacks in both directions!). An Elk holding up the traffic one morning while entering the park. Nothing to crow about! Where’s Alvin? How cute!.. not a native species,

Golden Gate Park

We flew from Jackson Hole, stopping on route at Salt Lake City, to San Francisco, arriving 5pm at our last Airbnb stay; husbands John and Billy’s stylish home, where every wall and corner was crammed with art and sculpture. Starting with a coffee across the road, junction of Waller and Fillmore (near Haight Street, the

A Grand Day Out

We left Williams, very early, to catch our first sight of the Grand Canyon… by helicopter! A handsome grazing elk greeted us at the airport gates. An early morning flight meant a smoother ride apparently (jolly good). The whole experience was totally thrilling, a smile never left my face. Spectacular and magnificent Canyon views unveiled

In a John Wayne Movie

A three hour drive to Monument Valley today, to check in to the most exclusive (and expensive) Hotel of this adventure, simply named The View. Blending sympathetically into the stunning backdrop of mesas, buttes and spires (rock formations to you), our third floor balcony room allowed us panoramic views of an ancient earth scape and,
