Travels by Train, Air (BnB) and Boat

An early start on Monday to wheel our suitcase ‘Bob’ past all the flower store owners setting up shop, a few blocks up to Penn Station and to our Amtrak train, which took us alongside the Hudson River and through some beautiful English looking countryside, over the border into Canada to our next stop, Niagra Falls.

For the first time ever, and the first of three Airbnb stays (see pic of Mike on veranda), we arrived at our home-from-home for the next two nights, just streets away from Niagra Falls. We received a warm welcome from our host Nela and have a cosy and comfortable room.

After a long train journey and feeling travel weary we decided to spend the rest of Monday evening recharging our batteries. After a restaurant meal and episode of House of Cards we were asleep by 10 (not difficult as that’s 3am in the UK).

We spent the whole day Tuesday exploring Niagra Falls. We walked all the way along the promenade, which gave us every possible angle of one the most amazing and impressive natural sights.

We’re not sure about some of the tourist traps alongside the Falls; the huge casino hotel and amusement arcades, but guess with thousands of visitors every day, that’s the way things go.

We saved the best for last. Ready in our pink macs, Hornblower (aka Maid of the Mist US side) boat tour took us past the foot of both the American and Canadian Falls, almost into the thundering waterfall cascades. Amazing!

With alternating heavy rain and brilliant sunshine throughout the day, we were blessed with a glorious rainbow just as we passed the foot of the US Falls!

Speeding along the tracks to our Niagara adventures.

Aren’t they magnificent!?.. the Falls of course!

How are things down on the Plantation?

It seemed appropriate!
