A Grand Day Out

We left Williams, very early, to catch our first sight of the Grand Canyon… by helicopter!

A handsome grazing elk greeted us at the airport gates.

An early morning flight meant a smoother ride apparently (jolly good). The whole experience was totally thrilling, a smile never left my face. Spectacular and magnificent Canyon views unveiled themselves beneath us, the Colorado River snaking through it. Two other couples joined us, plus the pilot of course, who had us looking out for key features along the way.

After the flight we drove to the Grand Canyon park to further explore by car, on foot around the trail paths (many with accessible edges to look over with no barriers… yikes) – we also joined a Ranger led geology walk which was very informative; lots of big awesome facts to think about, and we ended the day with a shuttle bus ride up to Hermits Point, perfect to see a gorgeous sunset.

Our room for the night was in a Grand Canyon Village Lodge. We were both happy to fall into the biggest bed of our trip so far after another action packed day.
