In a John Wayne Movie

A three hour drive to Monument Valley today, to check in to the most exclusive (and expensive) Hotel of this adventure, simply named The View. Blending sympathetically into the stunning backdrop of mesas, buttes and spires (rock formations to you), our third floor balcony room allowed us panoramic views of an ancient earth scape and,

Sandscapes

Antelope Canyon, as the Americans would say, is awesome. You will have probably seen pictures (somewhere) of this extraordinary geological feature; the colours, light, shapes and curves – sculpted by centuries of water flowing through this earth fissure. Thankfully one of the many flash floods didn’t happen today… As if we needed more tourist action,

Going Native

Our US travels have taken us through several Native American Reservations. Today we’re on our way to the Grand Canyon North Rim and en route make one of the most remarkable and interesting visits we’ve made so far, to a Navajo National Monument, an ancient canyon alcove dwelling ‘Betatakin’ where Puebloans lived 1250 to 1300.

On the Strip

We stayed our last two nights in the USA in the heart of Las Vegas, on the ‘Las Vegas Strip’ with themed hotel casinos, restaurants and gift shops as far as the eye can see. Music, bright lights, showgirls, slot machines… Las Vegas is extraordinarily vibrant and entertaining. We went to see several landmark hotels

Stats & Facts

For our final Honeymoon Blog, here’s a few USA stats and facts: We travelled around and through 8 American states: Arizona, California, New York, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Utah and Wyoming and we went to Toronto, Canada. We drove just short of 3,000 miles in 2 hire cars: a Buick and a Nissan Rogue SUV. We
